Western Australia has been producing lithium for over 40 years, is the second largest producer of lithium in the world. Recent rich discoveries such as the Kidman Resources’ 189Mt Mount Holland lithium pegmatite deposit (sold for A$776M), the 156Mt Kathleen, Valley discovery by Liontown, Resources (Mkt Cap A$5.79B), and the 308Mt, discovery by Pilbara Minerals (Mkt Cap A$14.9B) - all in Western Australia – shows the potential for additional giant lithium finds in the WA ‘Lithium Corridor”.
The Greta tenements are on the prolific Ida Fault and only 56km from the large-scale producing Mt Marion Mine and only 5km from the nearest producing Gold Mine (Lost Dog Gold Mine).
Greta’s tenement package is in Western Australia most prolific “Lithium Corridor” linking Mount Marion Lithium Mine, Red Dirt’s Mt Ida, St Georges Mt Alexander Project and Liontown’s new Kathleen Valley mine.
The Company has already discovered Lithium in its first exploration target located only 56km from the Mount Marion lithium mine. ASX listed SensOre (ASX:S3N) has independently confirmed the target.
A significant targeted exploration campaign has been planned to unlock the world class potential of Greta’s massive land holding along the Ida Fault which is proven to be prolific for lithium.
Earlier exploration has confirmed the presence of lithium and caesium anomalies
The South Dome target is located in metamonzogranite to metagranodiorite adjacent to the Ida Fault. Greta considers that
It has geological similarities to De Grey’s Hemi gold discovery.
Previous soil sampling in 1998 by Gindalbie Gold NL generated gold, arsenic and copper-zinc geochemical anomalies. The Gindalbie soil sampling was conducted on lines 800 metres apart and Gindalbie concluded that that ‘based on the results an infill sampling program will give a better definition of mineralisation trends. However, there was no follow-up.
The target area is blanket soil covered, and the dome shaped, potential ‘Bali Suite’ intrusion with areas of historical coherent anomalous gold and related metals is to be infill sampled and checked for lithium anomalies. Pegmatite is mapped in the south of E16/570.
It is proven that Geologic Terrane boundaries are likely to host the most economically attractive lithium deposit. Greta’s land package sits on such a boundary.
The Ida Fault is an important regional structure marking the terrane boundary at the western edge of the Eastern Goldfields Province. Recognition of the link between economically attractive lithium deposits and terrane boundaries is an important criterion of lithium prospectivity throughout WA’s Archaean Shield.
The 70Mt Mount Marion lithium pegmatite deposit is associated with one of the granitoid intrusion southeast of Coolgardie (see *DP in the upper part of the figure opposite) justifying the focus of Greta Minerals within and surrounding similar age and type of granitoids west-northwest of Coolgardie, particularly in proximity to the Ida Fault.
The caesium potential in the Ida Fault Project derives credibility from the 2016 discovery of the “Sinclair Caesium Zone (SCZ) ” by Pioneer Resources within a LCT pegmatite being explored for lithium about 120km south of Coolgardie. The high caesium grade of SCZ is due to high concentrations of the mineral pollucite
Greta Mineral’s interest in the area developed with - Southwest–Youanmi Terrane Boundary (Corrigin Tectonic Zone)
Significant new mineral were discovered here:
Copper: Caravel’s Copper
• Ni-PGE: Chalice’s Julimar
• Gold: Ausgold’s 2.6 Moz Katanning
• Ni-PGE, Gold, VMS, Iron Ore: Northam Resources
Suspected lithium at Lake Dumbleyung and results released by Impact Minerals to the ASX from its "Jumbo Nickel, Lithium, and REE Project" in March 2022 prompted Greta Minerals action.
• The project may be expanded to include a copper-zinc-silver-gold volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) prospect, known as the Brookton copper prospect, which is held by Caravel Minerals.
• Greta Mineral’s project area is within the influence of the recently identified “Corrigin Tectonic Zone,” shown opposite, with units of the Jimperding Metamorphic Belt depicted adjacent to the Southwest/Youanmi Terrane Boundary.
